Independent Work
Independent, not isolated.
Demonstration only. In a deployment with accounts, this would add you to Desk of One and notify you when Emil Strand posts a new gathering. This blueprint has no accounts and stores nothing, so the button opens this note instead.
Desk of One is for people who work alone and would like that to be a choice rather than a condition. The group runs silent coworking days — genuinely silent, with a talking hour at the end — in borrowed rooms across Portwell.
Its most used thread is not about clients or tools. It is about money: what people charge, what they turned down, and what a late invoice did to their month. The group’s culture of specificity there is unusual and deliberate.
Members include illustrators, a bookkeeper, two translators, and a stonemason. The overlap is the working pattern, not the trade.
Four hours of no talking at all, then one hour where everyone talks at once.
Members share real numbers. It is the single most useful thing the group does.
A standing place to say work is thin, without it being a crisis.

Real numbers only. The annual rate thread, reopened — this is the most useful thing this community does and it only works if people are specific.
